On a Fishing Trip to Arkansas, an Idea is Born...
In October 2019, Sam Case and his dad, Richard, travelled from their home in Connecticut to Arkansas’ famous Dry Run Creek, where they met up with expert guide Jeremy Hunt.
Over two days of fishing, and the good conversation that goes with it, Sam discovered that, despite political differences, the three of them got along just fine -- and they had a lot in common.
Sam caught a lot of fish that weekend (over 70!) but more importantly he made a friend and got his hook set in an exciting idea:
What if the solution to our partisan divide were as simple as Americans just…talking to each other?
Getting half of all of America to sit down with the other half isn’t practical -- but what if we could get at least some of us together for a weekend to fish?
With a shared love for fishing and being outdoors as an initial bond, maybe time spent with rod and reel would help our fellow Americans find...common water.
